PAL's April 2013 Exhibit at the Indian Prairie Public Library in Darien

Drop-off date for PAL's April Exhibit at the Indian Prairie Public Library in Darien is this coming Monday, April 1st, from 4pm to 7pm (if this changes for any reason, we will notify you) . We encourage everyone to bring up to 3 ready-to-hang pieces to show at this wonderful venue. They have their own hanging system - with glass cases for 3D or delicate pieces - so there is no need to bring your own easels! We will be considering this one of our official PAL shows and the theme will be "Spring Formal." BUT your work does not need to FIT the theme to be shown, so bring whatever you would like.
Indian Prarie Public Library - 401 Plainfield Road, Darien, IL 60561 - (630) 887-8760

April 2012 Demo - Cynthia Hellyer Heinz

Award-Winning Colored Pencil Artist and NIU Instructor, Cynthia Hellyer Heinz, on Colored Pencil Art and Creative Processes

Plainfield Art League's April Demo will be 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday, April 10th, in the large meeting room, lower level, at the Plainfield Public Library,15025 S. Illinois St., Plainfield, Illinois - (815)436-6639. Join us for a fun and unique excursion into the world of award-winning Warrenville colored pencil artist, Cynthia Hellyer Heinz. In addition to the discussion of techniques and materials for Colored Pencil work, she will also give unique insight into what inspires her work and how she visualizes her designs.
Cynthia's intricate, engaging and expressive work has garnered her many accolades amid solo and selected exhibitions throughout the country. Beginning with classes at the Art Institute of Chicago as a child, she earned a bachelors in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute and, in the year 2000, received her M.F.A. from Northern Illinois University and has been teaching drawing there full time. Her background in the field of health influenced her artwork. She states... "through investigation of the physical effects of time on the body, I found a fascination with aging flesh. Not only am I observing age on the human anatomy but time's impact on the organic matter around. I am a committed gardener and often watch as the tomatoes ripen, to rot, to seed, to regeneration. I witness the same cyclic effect on the matter of fabric and flesh." The beauty of time's march, which she able to attest to in her work through detail and lovingly crafted subject matter, captivates the viewer into long, lingering looks....
