***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***

The Plainfield Art League would like to invite you to our March meeting and Open to the public One Night Show on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 7pm to 8:45pm at American House Cedarlake-AHC.

This months demonstration is with Illinois artist Melissa Monroe. Melissa will be presenting Sculpture tentatively with hands on sculpting in clay. Most of her work is one of a kind and theme based. It generally falls into 2 categories: functional and sculptural. Functional is working with customers to create custom plate ware and matching accessory pieces. Sculptural is making wild abstracted flowers and vases, bottles, and jars.

"The appeal of working in clay is that you can mold it, fire it and turn it into something that is permanent. I make a representation of a flower and freeze it in time. When I create a flower in clay, I am not trying to make a real flower. I am sculpting the feeling of a flower. It is something playful, beautiful and abstract."
-Melissa Monroe melissazmonroe.com.

In addition to the Demonstration there will be a One Night Show. Everyone attending the meeting (members or guests) should bring a piece of their artwork to display during the meeting. So Don't forget to bring a piece of your artwork to be entered into The One Night Show!

Meeting and  The One Night Art Show is free to the public!

Please come early to ensure you get a seat. Light refreshments will be provided. Plainfield Art League's demonstrations are free and open to the public. Note location change. This meeting is not at the Plainfield Library. The meeting will be at American House Cedarlake-AHC which is located at 14800 S. Van Dyke Rd., Plainfield IL 60544. Plainfield Art League - Feb 7th - 7pm meeting, demo and ONS

February 7th - 7pm meeting, demo and ONS
open to the public at Plainfield Library

demo is "ID Yourself" (show and tell) and
Critique of your artwork
at Plainfield Library

This meeting is Feb 7th, 7pm at the Plainfield Public Library.

- This is a free meeting and open to the public -

Members and the public are invited to spend up to 5 minutes describing yourself as an artist and a person including background information so the membership get to know you a little better. Be sure to bring in some of your artwork and describe in detail how the artwork was achieved. Also available, if you want, will be a Critique of your artwork, where areas that impressed and areas that did not, along with suggestions to make a difference may be provided. You may also ask about a specific problem you are having.  I (Mike Bessler) have a framing problem that I'll be bringing up.  Plainfield Art League has many experienced members that have expertise in oil, water color, acrylic, and other painting techniques as well as expertise in photography techniques and printing. So please bring in your artwork and discuss it with us.

ONS - One Night Show
The public as well as members are invited to participate in "A One Night Show" (ONS) that will also take place during the meeting.  Each attendee (members and non-members) should bring in one artwork to display to everyone at the meeting.  The best judged artwork will receive a ribbon.  Remember, bringing in an artwork for the ONS is a defensive move as the judge is chosen from those that do NOT bring in a piece.  How's that for an unveiled threat!
