***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*** The Plainfield Art League would like to invite you to our March meeting and Open to the public One Night Show on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 7pm to 8:45pm at American House Cedarlake-AHC. This months demonstration is with Illinois artist Melissa Monroe. Melissa will be presenting Sculpture tentatively with hands on sculpting in clay. Most of her work is one of a kind and theme based. It generally falls into 2 categories: functional and sculptural. Functional is working with customers to create custom plate ware and matching accessory pieces. Sculptural is making wild abstracted flowers and vases, bottles, and jars. "The appeal of working in clay is that you can mold it, fire it and turn it into something that is permanent. I make a representation of a flower and freeze it in time. When I create a flower in clay, I am not trying to make a real flower. I am sculpting the feeling of a flower. It is something playful, beautiful and abstract." -Melissa Monroe melissazmonroe.com. In addition to the Demonstration there will be a One Night Show. Everyone attending the meeting (members or guests) should bring a piece of their artwork to display during the meeting. So Don't forget to bring a piece of your artwork to be entered into The One Night Show!
