PAL's June "In The Garden" Juried Exhibit Winners

Thank you and congratulations to all our participants and winners of PAL's June exhibit, "In The Garden," at District 202's Jon Balke Gallery!  As usual, the work was marvelous and we received wonderful feedback.  Our judge for this exhibit was Cindy Egizio, instructor at PSD.

Our winners for this month's exhibit are:

We look forward to seeing your work for the second month's exhibit at the Jon Balke Gallery, entitled "Freedom Rings".  Drop off for this next exhibit is Tuesday, July 1, from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at the Jon Balke Gallery, second floor of the District 202 Administration Building.  Bring one picture for the judged exhibit (pieces should not have won Best of Show or Best of Theme previously) and up to 3 pieces for the non-judged exhibit - framed and ready to hang.

Fun and Informative June Demo!

We would like to extend a special thank you to Freddie Harmon for providing us with a very informative and fun demo on creating preliminary value studies for future artwork!  Not only was it a great way to hone one's eye when judging values but helps to train your eye when attempting full color work.

At some future point, we would love to have Freddie come back and take us from our black and white study into our color value study....

Thanks again Freddie - it was a lot of fun!

PAL's May Judged One-night Exhibit Winners!

Thank you to all who attended Mike Bessler's Demo on photographing your artwork this past Wednesday - it was very informative!  We would also like to thank our member judge for our one night judged exhibit - Virginia Nordwall!

Winners for our May One Night Judged Exhibit "Holy COW!" are:

Best of Theme - Tim Lutrey with his oil on canvas entitled "Y'er Out!"

Best of Show - Ron Gerard with his watercolor entitled "Wild Sea."

Second Place - Mike Bessler with his photo on Canvas entitled "Lava Falls."

PAL May Demo - Take Professional Photos for your Artwork with Mike Bessler

Get ready for May's Demo with PAL's resident photography expert, Mike Bessler!!!  Mike will be demonstrating how to take photos of your artwork for print and online media.  Be sure to bring some of your artwork AND your camera to the Plainfield Public Library on Wednesday, May 14th, from 7pm to 9pm in the large, downstairs meeting room.

Excellent April Demo & "Spring Flowers" Exhibit Winners

Our April Demo with Dick Blick Rep. Kevin was a really fun time last night!  We discussed acrylic paints and acrylic mediums, pan pastels, colored graphites and a wonderful new, no-bleed paper from Crescent called "Render Paper."  Everyone had hands-on time with all the materials and we had a great Q & A session.

Also, PAL held it's first ever one-night, judged exhibit with the theme "Spring Flowers!"  We will be having these on the second Wednesday of every month during our demo meetings from now on - so we hope you're getting creative so you can bring in your new work to share and win ribbons!

This month's one-night, judged exhibit was judged by our resident photography expert, Mike Bessler.  And the winners are...Best of Theme: "Radiant Sunshine" by Freddie Harmon,  Best of Show: "Autumn Splendor" by Ron Girard,  2nd Place: "River Walk" by Debbie Hart, 3rd Place:  "Morning Mist" by Cheryl Carmen. 

Congratulations everyone!  Next month's theme will be "Holy Cow!" - and you don't have to stay within the theme to win ribbons.  We hope to see more members bringing in their work in the future!
